What is DVG?

DVG stands for Deutscher Verband der Gebrauchshundsportvereine which translated to english means the German Association of Working Dog Sport Clubs.

According to the DVG website (www.dvgamerica.com) DVG is the oldest and largest Schutzhund training organization in the world. The organization was first started in 1903, DVG was Germany's first police and service dog club and now it has grown to nearly 30,000 members. While attracting breeders of all working dogs, DVG exists only for one purpose -- the training and titling dogs of all kinds. In addition to Schutzhund and advanced tracking degrees, it offers Obedience and Tracking titles I through III, providing competition opportunities for all people who love to train dogs, even the smallest of breeds.

What is Schutzhund?

Schutzhund is a dog sport which tests three specific areas of training including: Tracking, Obedience, and Protection. For a more detailed in depth description of the Schutzhund sport please see the explanation given on The DVG Website
